Exhibits in our Galleries

Our galleries are free and open to the public 12-6pm Monday-Saturday. Our receptions are free and open to the public, and usually the first Saturday of every month from 5-7pm. Located in the historic Patchett House building at 232 Ward St. (same as 17K) in the Village of Montgomery, NY.

Emerging Artist Contest

Teaching Artist's Exhibit

Feb. 1-28 Teaching Artist’s Exhibit featuring works by all the WRS teachers, Live demonstrations by all the teaching artists each Saturday in Feb.

This is a wonderful opportunity for any potential students, or those who have been thinking of getting into art. The demonstrations will showcase a wide range of different techniques and approaches, all of which are available in the many classes that we offer.

Nocturnes- Juried Group Exhibit

 

 Nocturnes juried group exhibit featuring  “Nocturne Paintings” or, works that evoke the feeling of “night time.” Work Submitted must be Nocturne Paintings (a painting that depicts scenes with a setting of nighttime or subjects as they appear at night, in twilight,or in the absence of direct light.)

 $20 jury fee per artwork. Submit artwork to jury through our email (wallkillriverschool@gmail.com)

Deadline to submit February 15th, Drop off Framed works no later than February 28th. Reception: March 10th 5-7pm

Your painting will be raffled off to benefit our capital campaign to purchase Patchett House (50 for $500) or to benefit our free community programs like the Children’s Summer Camps and the Senior Drop In.

To donate, drop off your painting to Wallkill River School to Liam or Regina and specify 100/$100 or 50/$500 before May 1, 2018. Your gift certificate will be email to you, or mailed if you prefer.

Hudson River School Exhibit

New Hudson River School Exhibit featuring juried artwork by regionals artists influenced by the Hudson River School.

Reception Aug. 4, 5-7pm. Show dates Aug. 1-30, 2018

Artists Talk on Art by juror Christina Pahucki; presentation about the Hudson River School and it’s legacy at the closing event Aug. 25th, 6pm.

All artwork influenced by Hudson River School painters, or representing the region in the manor and style reminiscent of Luminism or realism is eligible to be included. Jury fee of $25 for one piece and $10 per piece up to 3 pieces. Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mentions.

Miniatures Exhibit

Handmade for the Holidays exhibit (fine crafts on tables throughout the galleries) and hanging exhibit of miniature paintings by regional artists.

  • $10 hang fee per piece is refunded if the piece sells
