Liam Vogel (William Joseph Vogel IV) is a Fine Artist working in a wide variety of mediums from classical acrylic ,pastel, oil, to more unique medium such as woodcut, and silverpoint. Liam was born and raised in Montgomery N.Y. From a young age, Liam had an interest in the visual arts. He started his art education as a teenager working in charcoal and pastel, and taking beginner level classes at the Wallkill River School. in 2010 Wallkill River School founder Shawn Dell Joyce took Liam on as her protege, and spent the next several years training him in Pastel painting techniques. after working with several other WRS instructors in several different styles and mediums, Liam went on to study Renaissance portraiture and Figure drawing at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and then later Orange County Community College.
Liam loosely defines his artwork as “Expressionistic Realism” defined by a figurative approach to his subjects with an emphasis on the relationship between color and light. Currently, Liam works primarily in pastel and acrylic doing plein air landscape, classical still life, and alla prima portraiture, much of which was on display at his emerging artist show at the wallkill river school last year. This year, Liam will be having his first solo show as a represented artist of the Wallkill River School
In Addition to his work as an artist, Liam is the Assistant Gallery Director, and one of the primary instructors at Wallkill River School teaching illustration, cartooning, and animation for children as well as classical painting/drawing for young adults. he is also the primary painting Instructor for “Zylofone” school of performing arts, working with severely disabled children.
